Shawne joined the Registrar's Office as the Coordinator of Prior Learning Assessment in August 2026. He is no stranger to higher education, however, having served nearly 20 years at three previous institutions and two collegiate athletic conferences.
Shawne is a student-focused higher education professional with a strong commitment to supporting learners in receiving recognition for the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained in the classroom as well as outside of traditional classroom settings. He possesses strong organizational, communication, advising, and administrative skills, and understands the importance of creating accessible and equitable pathways for students to achieve their educational goals.
In his current role, Shawne supports the assessment and documentation of prior learning, collaborates with faculty and academic departments, and guides students through processes related to prior learning assessment and credit recognition. He is detail-oriented, responsive, and committed to maintaining accurate records while ensuring that policies and procedures are applied consistently and transparently.
Shawne values collaboration and relationship-building and enjoys working with students, faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to identify opportunities that help learners make meaningful progress toward their degrees. His goal is to provide clear guidance and supportive service while recognizing the valuable learning students bring from their academic, professional, military, volunteer, and life experiences.
Originally from Evart, Michigan, Shawne earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from Central Michigan University and his master's degree in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University. He currently resides in Scranton.
