Direct Your Future with a Theatre Degree

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Theatre program will prepare you for a career in contemporary theatre by providing professional instruction in acting, directing, and design.

Students participate in all aspects of production, broadening their knowledge and developing an understanding of the diverse skills necessary to produce modern theatrical shows. Our small class sizes ensure that you receive personalized instruction. Courses are taught by faculty who are working professionals in the entertainment industry.

Productions

Each year Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ mounts theatrical and musical theatre productions on the main stage of the 1100-seat Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. Students build the scenery, construct costumes, hang and focus lights, and perform in these productions.

Recent productions have included Godspell, To Kill A Mockingbird, Songs for a New World, Our Town, Measure for Measure, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, A Little Night Music, Crimes of the Heart, Miss Julie, Proof, Once Upon a Mattress, The Fantasticks, Elegies, Sunday in the Park with George, ²¹²Ô»åÌýAll in the Timing.

Showcase Your Talents

All seniors have the opportunity to present a capstone project that represents the culmination of their work at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. This capstone can be an original play or musical, a show directed by the student, a production featuring the student, or another creative endeavor.

  • Instruction in acting, playwriting, and stage direction

  • Small classes taught by working professionals

  • Three main productions each year, including a musical

  • Required senior capstone project

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hosts three academic Centers of Excellence on campus; The Center for Law, Justice and Policy, The Center for Urban Studies, and The Mother Theresa Maxis, IHM Center.
